Sunderland Civic Centre, Vaux Brewery Site

We were commissioned to conceptualise, build, and install a distinctive new feature staircase incorporating the client's requirement that the design should reflect the shipbuilding heritage on the river wear. The staircase was constructed in pre-prepared sections at our Birtley fabrication facility, a strategy employed to streamline the on-site installation process. It arrived at the site in 5 separate loads and was hoisted into place through an opening intentionally left in the roof and façade, utilising a 200T mobile crane lift. The final painting was carried out off-site to ensure that upon installation, the stair was a fully finished product.
